I had a tough day as a roofing laborer in 1982. My truck had broken down and I was forced to ride my bicycle home, tired and exhausted and in 100+ degree heat. My thermos was in hand as I noticed a car driving towards me in the wrong lane on a narrow country road at a high rate of speed. Just before he reached me, I launched the thermos and dove into the ditch. As I looked up, I saw the thermos hitting the windshield and top corner of the roof. It must have flown 40 feet into the air and came down hard onto the pavement. There is a small dent near the mouth, the cup was ruined but my Stanley still performs flawlessly. I suspect the driver was drunk as he failed to stop even though his windshield was destroyed.

This thermos was purchased by my Grandfather in 1948 to keep his coffee warm while working in the wheat field. Grandfather used it, my dad used it and I used it. Not much paint left due to lying in the seat of a D-6 cat. (We used it also for fishing and hunting.)
What brought me to this site…Its so old that I cannot find a replacement cork, as the old one has seen it's last days. It still keeps my coffee warm in the boat while fishing.

A few months ago, I took my 30 year old Stanley to my brother-in-law who is a body man and painter and asked him to shoot some paint on it the next time he painted a car as it looked pretty bad after 30 years. When I got it back all the many dents had been filled in and a beautiful new green paint job on it with blue flames as well. Good for another 30 years.

Well, honestly my Stanley story has a relatively short history, however relevant. I was going hunting one weekend with my girlfriend’s dad, and had no bottle to put coffee in. Living in the Northwest, it is often wet and cold here and having hot coffee waiting for you when you get back to the truck after a long morning’s hunt is much appreciated. So I ran out to a local retailer to pick one up, and when I saw the green Stanley bottle, I instantly thought of my grandfathers Stanley bottles that he has owned and used for many years longer than I can remember, and all the hunting, camping and fishing trips that we had shared, never without his thermos of hot coffee. With those memories in mind, I did not hesitate to buy the Stanley, regardless of the price difference between it and some other “generic” thermos.
I used my brand new thermos on that hunting trip, and a few times after, but for whatever reason it would not keep the coffee hot for more than just a couple hours. I emailed Stanley asking them about this and without a request from me, they replied saying they would send me a brand new bottle, no questions asked! I sent them my address, and THREE days later, a brand new thermos, in its packaging, was waiting from UPS for me when I got home from work. I could not believe how fast they responded and handled the problem. It is hard to find a company these days that stands behind their product in such a way and is so willing to take care of their customers, and it was very refreshing to get that kind of treatment. I will never buy another brand of thermos!

Hi, my name is Doyle Hogue and I want to tell you how my thermos saved my wife's life.
The other night a guy came over to the house wanting to trade guns. We dickered back and forth for about an hour. He had a 22 ruger pistol that I wanted, but when I opened it, it was loaded so I unloaded it and threw the bullets on the kitchen table. Finally, we came up with a trade so I went in the back room to get the rifle that I traded, came back in the room picked up the pistol and put it back in the holster and put it up.
The next morning, I got ready for work. My wife fixed my breakfast and set my 2 quart thermos on the table. After that, my nephew came by to ride to work with me. I told him about trading guns, went and got it as I was showing him the way to spin the chambers it discharged. Remember I unloaded it last night; anyway the bullet hit the 2 quart thermos dead center and stopped the bullet. My wife was at the other end of the table.
Come to find out the guy I traded with saw the bullets on the table and reloaded it for me!!! So thanks for making the thermos walls so strong.

I've had my old Aladdin's Stanley Thermos for as long as I've had my second son: 37 years!!! This past week I dropped it, and for the first time ever, the stopper cracked. I picked it up by the cup that hadn't been screwed on all the way, and it fell to the ground. I can remember the exact day I bought this and knew that it was guaranteed for life. It really has a life all its own. I love my Thermos and take it to work everyday. In 6 years, it will retire right alongside me. This old Thermos lasted longer than my marriage!!!

My name is Stanley, but my owner calls me Cinderella for short. I'm only 16 years young, but I've had a hard life. My owner abuses me daily, balancing me in his palm and spinning me like a top. I don't mind it really. It's actually kind of fun until he drops me. I don't remember how many times he's dropped me over the years, but I'm starting to feel it.
Once he even left me on the steps of his 18 wheeler and drove away. I hung on as long as I could, but at 55 mph I slipped and fell to the highway. I skidded for at least 200 yards, broke my handle, and had numerous scrapes and bruises. Afterwards, instead of taking me to the hospital he apologized profusely and even kissed me...then threw my handle in the trash!
Oh yeah, once during a bad winter in Wyoming he even used my bottom to knock ice off of his trailer! That hurt!
I've been holding my story of abuse. I've seen my brothers out here on the road with other drivers, and they're pretty beat up too, but I'm starting to think he takes me for granted, keeping his coffee hot until he's good and ready to drink it. You know, I really do love him, but sometimes I wish he'd get a new pastel Stanley half gallon thermos and run away with her. But I know I'd never be happy sitting in a cupboard in the dark trying to think of something witty to say to an appliance or a serving bowl.
Oh well, I'm sorry to take up your time, I just felt I had to vent or I would EXPLODE! I know he loves me, you should see him beam when someone makes a comment about how well-used I look.
He told some lady he lives with that he even wants me to be beside him on his last load to Heaven someday. Yes, I think he still loves me.

This is about my Husband. I bought him the food thermos several years ago, and he puts everything in it, food, beverages hot or cold. This thermos has been on Hurricane Katrina repair, Hurricane Jean, and several snow / ice storms. As long as he has the thermos, I know that somewhere down this road when he is out for as long as 52 hrs at a time, repairing and getting the power back on, he has a hot meal or hot coffee to drink. Thanks Stanley!!

My thermos was the saving grace on many cold nights working on the flight line while serving active Duty for the USAF. That thermos has literally traveled the globe with me to locations I never thought of dreaming venturing to, much less taking along my thermos to them.
It builds character in a thermos once you get the first scratch or ding, kind of like a new car initiation, but once it wears off, it became the collection site of numerous stickers and jokes for all to pick on, but it never let me down and during my yearly hunting trips, it always found a way to warm me up inside.
I've since retired from the military and my wife thought it fitting to officially retire the faithful thermos also. So now-a-days, its stands proudly on display along my flag box with the placard reading the thermos that has traveled around the world, retired August 1, 2004.

This is a story about my father’s thermos. He had it forever. I remember it as young as 8 maybe 9 and I am 43 now and it had this big dent in it were it fell off the bulldozer and he ran over it with the bulldozer and it still worked perfectly. I think he finally sent it back to Stanley to add to the Museum. I think he had his thermos for over 40 years and a big part of those were with the dent in it and it had a cork plug to tell you how old the thermos is. He finally bought a new 1.1 quart.

I was a Marine Huey Crew Chief assigned to Marine Light Attack Helicopter Squadron - 369, and sent to Operation Desert Shield/Storm in August of 1990. My Mother was concerned that the water we carried wasn't staying cold enough, so she sent me two green 1 quart Stanley vacuum thermos to carry in my aircraft. The first thing everyone said in the Flight Line Shack was: you want to trade for one of them. I carried them everywhere on every flight. It did keep the water cool...which was very nice in 120+ heat. I still have and use those thermoses, carry them in the truck, especially out hunting in the cold Kansas winters. They keep hot drinks hot and cold drinks from freezing.

I'm still using the same 2 qt thermos I bought in 1968. I'm an Electrical Lineman by trade, and I wish I had a dime for every cup of coffee that my pole buddies and I have shared over the years. I have dropped it accidentally off of poles, out of bucket trucks, and even off of a 300' steel tower once. I have even scotched wheels of line trucks to keep them from rolling off, and I drank my usual 4 - 6 cups of coffee today at work. . . .and guess what. . .it still keeps it hot even after quitting time to this day.K

My Stanley qt bottle was purchased at Christmas time 1971. I was working in a foundry here locally, in the spring of 72. A 10 ton fork lift ran over it with the back tires and the only damage was the side dented in but it did not hurt the bottles ability to keep coffee hot. After all these years, I still use it on a daily basis. I preheat in the morning at 5:30 and at 4:30. 5:00 that night it’s still good and hot. Stanley is a proven name to me. I have 2 other qts and both large and small food jars, and all work just the same.

If everyone just had a Stanley and filled it with their favorite hot beverage, then walked, drove, biked or skated along they would come to a place that is special and beautiful and quiet. They would stop and sit, lean, squat or stand and pour a cup of said favorite hot beverage.
Someone else might come along to that place and pour their favorite beverage. Then, everyone with a Stanley filled with hot, good stuff would watch sunset, sunrise, snowfall, lightning, rain, hail, big waves, little waves, little league, little kids or whatever was special at that time. People would meet and talk and laugh and share.
The way most people do it now, they drive to a shopping center, inhale the exhaust of the car in front, scrounge around for the right change and drink their favorite hot beverage on the highway, cup perched between their legs.
Or, they buy it inside a store and sit and drink their beverage while watching traffic at the shopping center, talking on the phone or eavesdropping on other talkers.
I fill my Stanley at an early hour with great coffee. Then I drive to my sweetheart or with my sweetheart to our hideout in the Mohave Desert, I get to watch a sunrise an hour from home at the viewpoint, then I drive 4 hours more and still have hot coffee after dinner.
I think my way is better, that is why I bought a PINK Stanley today. It is a much better size for a girl to carry in her bag to a work day. Imagine, a PINK Stanley!!
That is Fabulous!
Thanks

My thermos was my father's. I have only had it for a little while, but my father got it in 1978, and it works superbly! It keeps things piping hot for hours. It has a few battle scars, however. For example, in 1986, the thermos was run over by a car, and twenty years later, with a new cup, it still works like it was brand new! Hopefully I can get another 30 years of faithful service out of it. I would recommend them to anyone. Keep up the good work.

I have a wonderful husband, Darrell, “the destroyer”. He has broken too many things to matter anymore but it's not his fault, it's just his wide open nature.
He is living his life long wish, after retirement from the Navy, of operating heavy construction equipment. His first Stanley got run over with his truck on the job site. It was still pretty usable, just not quite the standard for Stanley. It finally lost its battle for survival despite the duck tape (standard issue for life in Maine).
The second Stanley did not suffer for a minute. Darrell's first time on the dozer took out Stanley as he reposed on the ground. Oops!
The third Stanley must have been attacked by wild dogs when no one was looking from the sight of it. The dogs must have taken that cup with them because I hadn't seen it since the attack.
I just bought Darrell his fourth Stanley today. He's been doing this heavy equipment thing for a year now. Not bad I'd say. Keep those Stanley's coming.

My green Stanley has been very reliable. I've only had to replace the cover lid and mouth once during its lifetime. I use it every day for work. Today was a very sad day - my green plastic handle split in two pieces. I'm going to try to find my paperwork and I hope if I do find it you will cover my warranty. Until then, its tape the handle or Stanley will have to stay home. Thought I could get another 7 years out of it before I retire.

I've been enjoying the “Stanley life” for about 3 years now, and I'd never go back to another thermos ever! I love the outdoors, and from winter camping, to rock climbing, to hiking, to fishing, my Stanley is the first thing on my Packing List. It's kept me warm and satisfied since the first time I tried it out. I actually lost it once on my way up a trail, and was bummed out the rest of the hike. On the way back down, I happened to stumble across it on the trail and was amazed to see my java still hot enough to enjoy (12 hrs later!!)
I also work for a water service company, and every morning I make a fresh hot pot of coffee and fill up my Stanley. The guys I work with are always always stupefied when I pour my last cup of coffee on the way home from a 11 hr shift, and it's still steaming as it comes out! One guy tried telling me about his old C*leman that he used to have, and how amazing it was... he hasn't mentioned it again since the first time I poured him a hot cup of coffee at 6 pm!

I was a delivery driver for a bakery. The thermos I have today was found by me in the median of US 24 Telegraph Rd. I drove by the thermos on the north side & recognized it as a Stanley. I knew that it was still good & maybe only needed a new stopper. I remembered where I had seen it & picked it up on the run back down the south side of US 24. (I had a Stanley for 10 years that I had lost). There is very little of the green paint left on the outside but it still keeps my coffee steaming hot everyday. Thanks for such a great product.

I know these are great lifelong products because my thermos is from 1975. My thermos was partially crushed and the cup itself was flattened like a pancake while working in a coal mine in that same year. From that point on, it has held some percentage less than the original quart volume but it still keeps liquids as hot as the day I bought it.

Actually, I've only owned 4 in my life. This last one I handed down to my son. He works here in Winston Salem, NC for the Industries for the blind. He has a few problems, legally blind, had a cold a few months back and lost the hearing in his left ear. Not part of it all of it. Plus he's mentally challenged. But I guarantee you can set your clock by him. Works every day. Lastly he's probably had 35 operations on both his feet, one of his legs are 7 times smaller than the other.
I'm 54 years old and as I said I've only owned 4 Stanley's in my lifetime. They are a product that you can count on. But out of the 4, I backed over one with a D-9 Cat bulldozer. Totally flattened it out. This happened back in the 70's. Well my question to you is, Will you replace this one for my son? He has destroyed it just dropping it. He's used it for a year and a half and as much as I believe in your company I believe you will do the right thing. I have taken pictures of it. If I can get my wife to help me I'll send you some.(SS03 Cup) (Handle # RH95); (Stopper RS41); Thank you.

I remember getting woke up on those cold dark mornings and getting dressed in layers of clothes and still trying to get warm enough to go sit in below freezing weather with my Dad to shoot that big buck or even that doe that walked our way. I remember my father handing me that green dented up thermos and saying go get in the truck and the next thing I would hear ( because I slept all the way to deer camp) was him say don't forget the thermos. I remember watching him drink coffee in the stand and he would say to me only a real man could drink black coffee. So at age 10 I proved to be a real man by those standards. I drank the whole thermos of hot black coffee before we even got to camp. I was awarded a Stanley thermos and I have been drinking coffee ever since. I just bought a new thermos but I think of my Daddy ever time I crack that lid and see the steam rise up from the coffee hours after I made it.

A week ago I accidentally dropped my Stanley thermos that I've had for over seventeen years onto a concrete floor. I was two stories up and I couldn’t see it land, but I could hear it, and I was afraid that the end had come for my faithful friend. After it popped out of my hand, I thought momentarily about how many years I'd had it, and the great service that it had given me. I'm thinking at the same time, how many people do you think have nick-named their thermos? Mine was ole greenie! I also thought I would never need that extra stopper that I'd purchased at the same time, since this thermos was surely toast. Well when I walked down to get my thermos a co-worker had picked it up and was examining it. To my surprise, this thermos had survived the fall! It did pick up a few more dents, and the stopper was in a million pieces, but ole greenie; will live on. It took me two days to find the spare stopper at home. I'm looking at the bag right now, marked at 49 cents. It also says on the bag, Stanley thermos, unbreakable steel;. Yup, I'll confirm that. Great product folks, keep up the good work.
