I am not exactly sure when I received my Stanley stainless steel thermos, but I know that I was around 15 years old. It was a Christmas gift from my brother and was meant to be used when we went deer hunting. I am nearly 51 years old now, so that bottle is/was at least 36 years old. For over 20 years I stopped deer hunting and rarely used the thermos during that time. When I used the thermos during the 2008 deer season I was impressed when I poured myself a cup of coffee and it was still hot after 10 hours in the near freezing cold. This past 2009 deer season I used the thermos again. I was surprised that when I poured myself a cup of coffee, after just 3 hours in the woods, the coffee was cold. I assumed I did something wrong when filling the thermos and was more careful the next morning. The results were the same. My coffee was cold again. I wasn't really disappointed in the thermos. In today's world, most things don't perform that well for that long. I was ready to toss the thermos and buy myself another when my 2nd brother reminded me of the Stanley guarantee. I called Stanley and within a few weeks had another Stanley stainless steel thermos; no questions asked. This is why I when I need a thermos, I will always reach for Stanley (I have another Stanley 1 liter thermos). It does pay to buy Stanley.

My father worked for Amoco Oil Refinery for 30 yrs. He never worked a shift without his lunch box cooler combo. When I was 13, 23 yrs ago he gave me the original 1.1 qt bottle that went to it when I started working summers in the family house building business. I have since looked with no success for 23 yrs to find my own lunch box cooler to match it. I am now 36. Stores either don't carry the item or only other size food and beverage containers. I took the 1.1 qt bottle with me to Iraq and afghan. The 1.1 qt kept drinks hot and cold like it was new on many a lonely and dangerous mission. This bottle is at least 30 years old and still has orig parts. My wife and I visited my dad over Christmas and found that he still had his combo as I was washing the bottle he gave me after the road trip to visit. He couldn't believe I still had it. My wife is getting me the lunch box cooler to complete my set for my birthday on Jan 19 2010. I plan on giving the orig "Old Faithful" to my son when he graduates high school. I have since purchased 2 qt bottle, and food jar when I joined the UCMC in 1993 still have them too. Thank you for such quality products and website, without it I never would have completed the set.

I have a 2qt thermos that belonged to my grandfather. He had bought it at the local hardware store in Mt. Vernon IN. long before i was around. He passed on in 1985 at the age of 73. My father received one of two of the thermos my grandfather had. Both my father and my uncle drove trucks over the road so they were the ones grandfather wanted them to go to. My father had used the thermos up until about 2002. He had to quit driving however by this time. I had been Been driving trucks for several years. He gave me the thermos as a birthday gift for me to carry in my travels. I am also in the reserves, and do a lot of hunting, fishing, so as you can imagine we have all put this thermos to the test. In late 2004 I had to leave for a tour in Iraq. I took the thermos since I am not one to not have plenty of coffee on hand reguardless the temperature outside. The screw on cup, the original one, caught a piece of a mortar round and was left in two pieces. When I returned home I looked in all the stores for a new one but no one carried them. So I just used the thermos the way it was. This past summer I had My 9 year old daughter with me in the truck and she wanted to carry it into the truck stop when I stopped to fuel and get some coffee. Well as all kids do she was looking around and not paying much attention when she dropped it. The ground was frozen and shattered the plastic screw in pour spout. She just stared at me like a deer in the headlights. Waiting for me to start scolding her. I picked it up and put it back into the truck and told her it would be ok. She knew how much it meant to me. We have looked everywhere since and here online is the one place I have been able to find another 2qt thermos. tonight I ordered a new cup, and pour spout for it, and I believe when they come in I will have to just put it up into the closet so that it is not damaged anymore. I will be coming back to purchase 2 new 2qt thermos's and I can only hope they will do half the job that this one has. It was nice to see that you are still making these product to make our lives a little better. I have told so many people who have ask where I ever found a thermos that big and that keeps coffee hot that long for all the years it has been in my posession as did my father, and we both appreciate the dedication and workmanship of your company. thank you SGT. 12/31/09 my husband filled his Stanley thermos with hot water as he typically does. He works in the cold most days and likes to have hot water for oatmeal and tea. He left the thermos in his truck and it was there all day Thursday through Monday morning. The tempature got down to -3 Thursday, -21 Friday, -29 Saturday and -17 Monday. It didn't get any warmer than 4 degrees. Monday he brought his thermos in to get it ready and the water was not frozen! We were amazed! It had gotten so cold that his truck window broke but the water in the thermos didn't freeze.
