My Stanley Story is about my Father. As a young child I have fond memories of waking up each morning and seeing my mother pack my father's lunch in his green Stanley lunch pail before he left for work at the local tire plant. This image was reinforced when he walked through the door each night with his stanley lunch pail in his blackened and calloused hands. To me Stanley is the symbol of a hardworking man.

i remember a very cool fall day on my grandfathers farm. we had just finished an apple harvest from the many wild trees on the farm. they would be canned and i would be lucky enough to enjoy them through the winter with my grandparents. as we finished boxing the apples my grandfather pulled out this large green metal thermos. it had seen years of use.......you could tell by the apperance. it spilled out a piping hot cup of cocoa. i was so impressed that this " thing" he had kept the cocoa hot all morning. when i asked him about it he told me that it was" his stanley" and "every man should have his own". i was 14 years old on that day. that christmas i found a very rare present from my granddad. he smiled when he handed it to me....i was so excited....i ripped into the pacxkage and to my delight i found "my very first stanley'. stanley has been apart of my life for over fourty years now. i've had several of them. a few failed me..........right after i ran.... not one , not two, but yes, three of them over with different vehicles!!!!!!! those were very sad days and i couldn't get to the store fast enough all three times to replace my beloved stanley ! ahhh......if they could only make a bulldozer proof thermos..............
  • "It goes everywhere I do -- on vacation, camping, and even on shopping trips with my wife! I've replaced the stopper and wrapped the bottle with camo duct tape and the bottle has worked faithfully."

This is actually my dad's story but I figured I would pass it on. I ran into you all at Outdoor Retailer show last week. The first thing a said to your sales rep. was that I remember seeing my dad with his Stanley thermos on his way to work, to go fishing and/or to go hunting.I asked if he had a good Stanley story he could tell me and as a matter of fact he did. My dad worked for the Oregon Department of Transportation for 30 years. He started off picking litter and by the time he retired he had been the maintenance supervisor for the most of the state highways around Portland at one time or another. Always with a Stanley by his side. Apparently, during one of those times he had his Stanley somewhere in a road grader he was operating. He said that the road grader got to shaking and bouncing so badly that the Stanley jumped right out of the road grader and he proceeded to run it over. As the road grader ran over the Stanley the thermos shot out into the bushes on the side of the road. Realizing what had happened my dad stopped the road grader and hopped out to search for his Stanley. He found it no worse for wear and continued on down the road. I called him as I was writing this to ask if he still has the Stanley thermos he ran over. He said that he did. The cup didn’t survive but he was able to continue to use it for many more years. He thinks he has owned it for about 25 years and it is still in usable condition sitting on the shelf with his Stanley thermos he was given at his retirement. Alissa Sampson on behalf of Jim Sampson

Soon after my now husband met me, he found out how much I love my stanley thermos. Not only do i love what he is and what he does, I love the stanley story and everything that stanley represents. Thank God this didn't seem to bother him, because we are in wedded bliss for almost two years now. Stanley became part of our family, always traveling with us wherever we might adventure so when our son came along it was and is important for him to know stan as part of our clan soooooo, I took it upon myself to make a stuffed stanley that he can take wherever he wants until he can graduate to the original. Included is a picture of our stuffed stan and our oliver penn Newman...they are hanging out in the locker room getting ready for the morning shift....thank you to you stanley and for being a part of our family....
